Most of the world had been screaming since October 8 2023 that Israel’s onslaught on Gaza is much bigger than what they portray. It goes beyond a ‘response’ to the October 7 Hamas attacks, it is about occupation.
The October 7 attacks led by Hamas were within themselves a response to the longest occupation in modern history. War crimes were committed on that day and October 7 will go down in history as one of the most horrific days for Israel. But Israel wants the world to look at October 7 with tunnel vision, as a crime committed by a group of “human animals” who out of nowhere decided to attack “poor Israel”. That is not what happened.
There is naturally the question of what truly happened on October 7. The Hannibal Directive comes into question as well as why it took the Israeli army six hours to reach the Kibbutz when it should have taken them fifteen minutes.
There is also the question of how Israel could miss the attack as they claim to know ‘everything about everyone’ with their high-tech surveillance tactics. Israel was also warned about October 7 from official sources, but inside officials ‘ignored the warnings’.
All of this points towards the possibility that Israel allegedly wanted October 7 to happen in the way that it did, so it could conduct genocide upon the Palestinian people in Gaza and the West Bank to further occupy Palestinian Territories.
Bezalel Smotrich, the Finance Minister of Israel is continuing to push the plan of Israelis moving to Gaza, his latest talk regarding this was on November 24, 2024. He continues to push the rhetoric that it will be a “voluntary evacuation.” Make no mistake, there is nothing voluntary about it.
Israel has been pushing Palestinians out of their homes since 1947, since Jewish immigrants from WWII moved to what was all Palestine. In their first female prime minister Golda Meir’s own words:
“East Bank, West Bank, no. It’s all Palestine. I’m a Palestinian.”
The story can be told in different ways and people can say “it’s complicated.” But there is nothing complicated about occupation and apartheid. The world cannot change their geography according to different interpretations of the Bible or any religious book for that matter. Due to which many argued that Palestine should at least be brought to it’s 1967 borders. Although since the occupation began, the Israelis have constructed a system of apartheid and ethnic cleansing.
Palestinians are not allowed to walk the same streets as Israelis, they are not allowed to critique the Israeli government in any way including liking social media posts, and Israeli settlers in the West Bank continuously terrorise Palestinian families so they “voluntarily leave”.
The West Bank goes ignored while the horrors of Gaza splinter across our screens, but we at Far Media will discuss the West Bank in our upcoming articles. This is what right wing Israeli Finance Minister Smotrich means when he says he wants Palestinians do conduct a “voluntary evacuation”. It’s leave now or be killed.
It is a convenient strategy to treat people like animals by putting them in an open air prison [Gaza] after stealing their homes and controlling what goes in by air, land, and sea — then when they retaliate, to start playing the victim.
